Chelsea defender Alex is set to snub QPR to rejoin his former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Brazilian has spent six weeks of internal exile at Stamford Bridge, after being banished to the reserves' building by Andre Villas-Boas for making an official transfer request.
Alex, who joined Chelsea for a nominal fee in 2007 after being parked at PSV Eindhoven for three years, has not been allowed to enter the first team block at Cobham and has not played since the Carling Cup defeat by Liverpool on November 29.
Villas-Boas refused to play the 29-year-old even when he had a defensive crisis over Christmas which saw Jose Bosingwa playing at centre-half, announcing that the Brazilian would not be considered for selection.
The Mirror revealed earlier this month that the defender’s preference was for a move to Paris or back to his homeland, despite Chelsea giving west London neighbours QPR permission to speak to him.
Now, Ancelotti is closing in on a £4million deal for the player, who has scored 10 goals in 134 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit and won the 2009 FA Cup in addition to winning the Double under the Italian in 2010.
Ancelotti is keen to utilise Alex’s experience, aerial ability and thunderous set-piece shooting, and PSG’s Qatari owners have almost limitless funds to deal with his wage demands.
